Wellbeing
The Hampshire SCITT Partnership takes the wellbeing of its trainees very seriously. We work in partnership with the Occupational Health and Wellbeing Service to carry our pre-employment checks for all trainees. Once you have been accepted onto the programme, there are a number of options available for any trainee who feels they need support:
- Your Professional and Curriculum Mentors: If you have any concerns, you can always approach either your Professional or Curriculum Mentor for advice and support.
- Director of SCITT and Primary Programme Lead: We operate an open door policy at the Hampshire SCITT Partnership. If you need to speak to Juliet Pearce (Director of SCITT) about something that concerns you, please pop in.
- Your GP: Please click the following link for some information on speaking to your GP about your mental health – https://www.mentalhealth.org.uk/publications/gp-visit-guide/
- The Education Support Partnership: We are proud to work in partnership with ESP who are the only UK charity dedicated to supporting the mental health and wellbeing of education staff in schools, colleges and universities. Early Career teachers face a huge learning curve and it’s easy to feel isolated if you’re struggling, or to reach burn out if you take on too much and can’t switch off. You will find some tips to help manage your mental health and wellbeing on Lisa Fathers’ blog.
In addition to the above options, you may find self-help books of assistance. Please use the following links for some suggested reading:
