Hampshire SCITT
Welcome to Hampshire SCITT. If you are interested in training to teach in Hampshire then you have come to the right place. Across our partnership, we work with some of the best secondary schools in Hampshire. You will be training with knowledgeable and enthusiastic teachers who are committed to education and leaders in their own fields. If you complete the course successfully, you will be awarded QTS and a PGCE.
Those people still studying for a degree in a STEM subject, who would like to find out more about training to teach and gain some school experience, may be interested in our 2023 Teaching Internship Programme: http://www.thornden.hants.sch.uk/teachingintern22
Our partner schools are united in their aim to train exceptional teachers for the SCITT partnership as well as Hampshire more generally. Most of our trainees choose to take up posts in partnership schools once they have qualified; indeed, many gain teaching jobs in the schools in which they have trained. However, you are obviously free to decide where you want to teach once you have qualified and each year, a few of our trainees do take up teaching posts in other counties.
Our trainees complete the programme eager to start their teaching career and keen to continue their professional development. Our partner schools are skilled in identifying future leaders and some of our trainees gain promotion in the first two years of their teaching.
We are linked with The HISP Research School which is also based at Thornden School in Chandlers Ford, Eastleigh. As one of the new Research Schools in the national network, HISP Research School aims to work collaboratively with schools to help bridge the gap between research evidence and classroom practice. If you train with us, you will benefit from the very best of evidence-based practice.
